Lying in Honor
Capitol Rotunda
29 April 2024
The U.S. Capitol has been considered the most suitable place for the nation to pay final tribute to its most eminent citizens by having their remains lay in state (in the case of government officials and military officers) or in honor (in the case of private citizens).
On 29 April 2024, COL (Ret) Ralph Puckett, Jr., was accorded by a joint resolution of Congress the final tribute of Lying in Honor in the Capitol Rotunda as the last living Medal of Honor recipient of the Korean Conflict. As only the 42nd person in history to Lie in Honor/State, he was a most fitting representative of not only 'The Forgotten War' but, also, ''The Silent Generation.'
Rest in Peace, Ranger.
