A Journey to the Medal of Honor
Colonel Ralph Puckett, Jr.

As with most things, COL Puckett never initiated the pursuit of anything that would benefit him, especially this effort to seek an upgrade of his Korean Conflict DSC ... one of two DSCs, the other earned in Vietnam.

Leveraging his bride, Jeannie, whenever necessary ... which was on more than one occasion ... while the mission may have taken 18 years to accomplish, the time and effort were nominal in regards to the result.

Overall, I've only refused The Ranger two things in life:

1. On the three separate occasions when we were 'dead in the water' in pursuit of his MoH upgrade and he'd request "John, please

stop wasting your time," that's when I would call in the 'heavy artillery,' dear Miss Jeannie to suppress the rebellion.

2. To call him "Ralph" ... which he finally stopped asking after four years; dat' wasn't gonna' happen.

And, to those who offer their appreciation for the efforts I took to make this MoH happen, my response is threefold:

1. It was an easy labor of love for an exceptional leader who had earned the honor along with his 8th Army Rangers.

2. All I did was write their story in text which the Rangers had already written with their blood.

3. It was a personal pleasure to eventually bring both the White House and The Pentagon to their knees.
